Edit — using presets (letter, report, essay, novel)
Last updated · 6 June 2026 · 4 min read
Presets configure margins, styles, and layout for a specific kind of document. Here's how each one differs.
Presets configure margins, default font, line height, and starter styles for a particular kind of document. Pick one when you create a document, or change it later from Document → Preset.
Letter
1-inch margins, 11pt body, single line spacing. A clean blank page with a signature block at the bottom.
Report
1.25-inch margins, 11pt body, 1.5 line spacing. Heading styles tuned for sections and sub-sections.
Essay
1-inch margins, 12pt serif body, double-spaced. Bibliography style ready for footnotes.
Novel
0.75-inch margins, 12pt serif body, single spacing. Chapter headings auto-page-break.
Switching presets later
Changing a preset re-applies margins and default styles. Your text content is untouched — bold and italic on individual words are kept. If a heading style changes size, you'll see it update immediately in the canvas.
